Product Description

Designed by Mercedez Rex

"This one wasn’t planned.

Pigment was thrown onto water without a map — no color theory, no forcing, no second-guessing. Just movement. Later, while scanning the prints, one composition surfaced.

A field of wildflowers, if painted by Joan Miró.

It felt like spring.

Field Trip is a little psychedelic, a little sun-drenched, a little elsewhere — umbrellas by the sea, fruit stands in heat, a meadow behaving wildly." — Mercedez Rex

Mercedez Rex creates from the fluid heart of Austin, Texas, where pattern, chance, and movement converge. A lifelong lover of wild water and a trained photographer, Mercedez brings an innovative approach to the centuries-old art of water marbling. Her sensitivity to discovering the “decisive moment” from formal training in darkroom-based photography is reimagined in this mono-printing process, where one captures a singular ephemeral expression of color in motion.

Her work pushes tradition into new territory through bold experimentation—haphazard gestures, digital reproduction, and exaggerated scale all collide to capture fleeting moments of chaos and beauty.

Hand-marbled design, digitally printed edition on silk, hand-rolled hem.

20 x 20 in.
