Mercedez Rex creates from the fluid heart of Austin, Texas, where pattern, chance, and movement converge. A lifelong lover of wild water and a trained photographer, Mercedez brings an innovative approach to the centuries-old art of water marbling. Her sensitivity to discovering the “decisive moment” from formal training in darkroom-based photography is reimagined in this mono-printing process, where one captures a singular ephemeral expression of color in motion.

Her work pushes tradition into new territory through bold experimentation — haphazard gestures, digital reproduction, and exaggerated scale all collide to capture fleeting moments of chaos and beauty.
