Ruth Asawa BMC Pattern Denim Apron By Mi Cocina

Product Description

Ruth Asawa's early artistic exploration at Black Mountain College (BMC) involved using a laundry stamp with the college's initials to create a series of prints, which later influenced her signature wire sculptures and other artistic endeavors.

While in charge of the student-run laundry, Asawa borrowed the BMC laundry stamp and used it to create a series of prints on fabric, applying the stamp in rows and columns to create a grid-like pattern.

Her systematic repetition of the stamp caused the letters to merge and form a grid, anticipating the repetitive loops in the wire sculptures she would later create.

Mi Cocina versatile Classic Denim Aprons were created for chefs, gardeners and craftspeople of the world. They're strong enough for years of use and become even more beautiful over time.
