The Droplet Soy Sauce Bottle fuses traditional Japanese hand craft with modern design. Soy sauce is contained in the mouth-blown glass base. The glass dropper, formed individually over a burner, is used as both lid and “pipette” to serve the soy sauce. Simply hold a finger over the hole on top of the dropper to prevent liquid dropping out of the bottom. Remove your finger when you are over the dish to release the sauce.
Designed by Takenobu Igarashi, one of Japan’s most prolific graphic designers, sculptors, and educators. Representative works of his posters and calendars are held in the SFMOMA Collection.
