Featuring the Diego Rivera mural now on view at SFMOMA in the Roberts Family Gallery, this beautiful cashmere and silk scarf depicts in vivid detail a past, present, and future the artist believed were shared across North America, and celebrates the creative spirit through portraits of artists, artisans, architects, and inventors. Diego Rivera painted Pan American Unity during the 1940 Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island in San Francisco.
After the fair, Pan American Unity was moved to the campus of City College of San Francisco. Decades later, following extensive research and conservation, the mural is temporarily on view at SFMOMA.
