I. Ronni Kappos jewelry is handmade from an evolving collection of rare beads, mostly vintage glass from the famed pre-war German beadworks in Bohemia. These beads, manufactured up until the 1940s, were the product of craftsmen whose materials and workmanship were unrivalled at the time. Ronni's devotion to such rare materials makes her designs limited editions. Her latest acquisition — multi-colored vintage glass edged with 24k gold — comes from a secretive supplier who holds the last known cache of this beautiful material in the world.
Ronni studied Art History at the UC Santa Cruz and soon after started making her own jewelry. She has been working full time on her line since September 2002. Ronni's singular approach to design stems from a commitment to her materials; the beads from this era yielded elegant, simple shapes in a rich palette of colors that are not available in contemporary beads. Ronni brings endless variation to these beads, developing hundreds of styles over the years that range from minimal to ornate constructions. Some of her work is thematic, referring visually to molecules, candy or collars and neckties. She is influenced by architecture and modern art.
